Week 8 Progress
This week's special shout out goes to Lori and Martha. Lori is doing some light running and has found that getting up and doing light works out during commercials has given her an added boost. And Martha is doing brisk 2 mile walks or playing "Just Dance" on x-box with her son. She's found a great way to combine exercise and fun. And that's a really good way to do it - Way to go ladies!
We're also giving a shout out to Prozium and Edgar because they showed real results last week too. Prozium has started a workout journal and has begun preparing foods in advance and keeping them in the refrigerator where they are ready when he needs them. Edgar has improved his running time - again - and has discovered the beauty of eating more fruits and vegetables. Let's give a round of applause all the way around. It really makes me proud of all of you.
I love when people write in each week and share their success stories and what's working for them. Each person is different and different things work for different people. Keep coming and sharing because you never know what ideas may be helpful for someone else.
Later this week I'll have a post on Trans Fats. If anyone wants to do a guest post and share what they are doing, e mail my mom through the link on the right side bar. We love to hear how you're taking control of your diet and nutrition. Share your ideas and share the joy!
See you next week!

Week 8 Progress
ReplyDeleteGood News
1.) The good news is that I completed every session of my fourth week of weight training and can report significant progress in recovering my strength. It is getting much easier to complete my sets and finish with a higher number of reps. I am planning to raise the bar in week five.
2.) I discovered the Android apps for MyFitnessPal and Runkeeper this evening which is going to make it much, much easier moving forward to keep track of my macros and to maintain my calorie deficit.
3.) In terms of cardio, I completed 4 out of 5 walks, 1 out of 3 HIIT sessions, and 3 out of 3 low intensity cardio sessions, which is fair but not what I was shooting for this week.
4.) Briefly, I saw my weight dip into the 155 to 156 range earlier this week.
5.) I've started dating again! I had a lot of success in that area last week which has motivated me to push myself even harder.
6.) I managed to get in some nutrition research, not as much as usual, but I watched a few YouTube videos, worked a few prepared meals into my diet, and I learned how to cook a few new meals for next week.
7.) I've done some preliminary research into creatine supplements and protein shakes.
Bad News
1.) I spent 4 out of 7 days on the road last week. This was unusual and was the major reason why I missed several of my cardio sessions.
2.) My recent success with the opposite sex has put me on the road more than usual and has interfered with my routine.
I felt like treating myself and one the way home used it as an excuse to scarf down a huge cheeseburger and fries from Five Guys!
3.) The single biggest factor that continues to drag down my progress is without a doubt the peer pressure from friends to go out to the bar and drink on the weekends.
Somehow, I managed to let myself get pressured into drinking on Wednesday (.25 beer night), Friday, and Saturday, which I didn't mind so much in light of the fact that going out is the cause of the recent success with women.
Here's a photo of me on the left at a birthday party on Saturday at a much happier 156 to 157 pounds:

I will be much, much happier around 142 to 145! I've also turned some new readers on to your blog down here in Alabama and Georgia.
I stopped by to say I am proud of Lori and Martha! they are making healthy changes and doing a great job! Thanks to you, Tony for giving us practical ways to stay healthy!
